It’ll be tough to extend the Jaguar XE Range in to an Estate & Coupe
We’ve banged on for years about Jaguar extending their saloon car range (well, the XJ and XF as that’s all they had until the XE arrived) to coupes and estates, at the very least. We know, for example, that the Jaguar XJ Coupe has been on the drawing board for as long as the current XJ, but Jaguar has failed to build it. Similarly, there have been rumblings about an XF Coupe for years, but that has come to nought too, although Jaguar did finally manage to launch the XF Sportbrake Estate to extend the XF range a little.
The Toyota Auris Touring Sports has gone in to production
We’ve had the debut of the Toyota Auris Sports Touring, we know the specs, and we know how much the Auris Estate will cost. And now Toyota has started production of the first full hybrid estate car in its sector. The first Auris Touring Sports rolled off the production line at Toyota’s Burnaston Plant on Thursday – a white car, predictably – with the Transport Secretary, Patrick McLoughlin, and Toyota’s European CEO, Didier Leroy, on hand to welcome the Touring Sports to European roads.
Mark Goodier gets the first Nissan LEAF delivered in the UK
It’s taken a while, but Nissan has finally got the Nissan LEAF on the road in the UK, with the first two customers picking up their cars this morning. Nissan dealers Glyn Hopkin in Waltham Abbey had a pair of nice, shiny, black Nissan LEAFs all prepped and ready to go this morning to the first two UK customers – DJ Mark Goodier and electronics engineer Richard Todd. Mark Goodier – once a Radio 1 key player but now out to pasture at Smooth FM – was the first to drive off in his LEAF, subsequently commenting on Twitter that “…I had a great smooth drive into London today”.
